It is the intent of Resolve Maritime Academy to provide realistic and practical training; this is achieved by following the NFPA Standard 1005 and recommendations of NFPA 1405. It is designed to orient the firefighter to the maritime industry, and a basic understanding of its operation. This course covers topics to include ship's organization, construction, and familiarization. Also covered is In-depth strategy and tactics for various ship configurations, similarities, and differences between shipboard and structural firefighting. The class is 50% classroom and 50% practical. The students will learn how to operate in a full-scale ICS environment using a variety of outside resources from the public and private sectors.

This course will give firefighters the understanding of how to identify what vessel traffic, cargo, hazardous cargo and other marine hazards that are in their response area. Upon completion firefighters will be able to identify why they need to start planning what resources their department have, and do not have. What federal, state and local agencies that will respond and how to work together.
Upon completion, the firefighter will be able to respond and effectively handle a marine emergency.
A course completion certificate will be issued to the student upon successful completion of all course requirements and assessments.
