SeaRegs offer a regular programme of preparation courses for Master 200/OOW 500 candidates at their Plymouth based classroom. A central location with easy road/train links to regional and London Airports, ensures overseas participants can easily reach the SeaRegs training base. Plymouth has plenty of reasonably priced accommodation options.

Training can be provided for groups at a venue to suit, in the UK and overseas.

Preparation courses (5 days) – £990

We start the course looking at Business, Law and regulation so that we have a solid foundation for the rest of the week. On the first night one of your homework tasks is to review the Master 200 syllabus and outline what areas you would like particular help on over the remaining days.

We then run through our own syllabus and yours to ensure that we get consistent coverage of the Master 200 syllabus. For a standard course we would expect to refresh chart work skills with a quick test to check your background knowledge. Cover Electronic Navigation, Radar, Watchkeeping, Navtex, Bridge procedure, Masters responsibility, Watch handover, ColRegs Rule 19 restricted visibility, GMDSS, Bridge control failure, Pollution prevention, Pollution incidents, Garbage management, Stability, Effects of stability, Codes of practice and LY code, CoSWP, Musters, Legal obligation, Salvage, Safe manning, hours of work and Crew agreements.

The Master 200 syllabus is pretty vast and we always suggest that you leave a slight gap between the prep course and exam in order to consolidate what you have learnt.

To help anyone with a longer gap between their prep and exam, we offer existing students to come back for a day or two on the next Master 200 prep for a reduced price of £75 per day for a refresher or a last minute cram.

SeaRegs advise all participants to do the RYA PPR course beforehand as this will give a good background to some of the subjects.

We can offer a tailored service if our scheduled dates do not fit with you.

Master 200/OOW500 mock oral exam (2 hrs) – £80

If you would like a shot at a mock oral exam we offer a 2 hour session with one of our Instructors acting as examiner. The mock oral examination consists of 1 ½ hours examination and 30 minutes debrief and action planning. If you have had a preparation course with us we will endeavor to arrange the exam with a different instructor.

Often the mock oral exams will follow a Master 200 preparation course, but please contact us for availability if you require other timings.
