Objective
On completion of this course the student should be able to carry out operational planning, risk assessment, and hazard identification tasks. Set up the DP system for a particular task, and react to all events as they occur.
The course certificate will state:
“Any applicant who successfully completes our Dynamic Positioning-Advanced course will satisfy the DP training and demonstration of competence requirements of Nautical institute’s Dynamic Positioning Operator’s Training and Certification Scheme, Offshore Training and Certification, version 1.1, 2015, Phase C including; Practical Operation of the DP System, DP Operations, DP Alarms, Warnings and Emergency Procedures and; Nautical Institute’s D.P. Examination System, version 1.1.1, 2015 to ensure operations are continued or terminated safely IAW Section B-V/f of the STCW Code as amended.”
Scope
The intention of the DP Simulator Course is to build on that experience, and to provide some realistic DP-based scenario work. These scenarios
should provide the opportunity to practice all aspects of the planning and conduct of typical DP operations, including the handling of emergency situations.
Entry standards
This course is designed for deck officers as the third step in the Nautical Institute’s training scheme toward DP certification.
