Proficiency In Survival Craft Lifeboats (PSC/PSCRB)

PSCRB stands for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat. At this training, you will learned about Safety Guide Lines, Ship Emergencies, Abandoning the Ship, Personal Lifesaving Appliances, Rescue Operation, Life Boats, Life Boat Launching Devices / Appliances, Life Rafts, Location Aids, Signals and Signs in an Emergency.

This STCW course has been developed for seafarers who are responsible for the survival crafts and rescue boats during an emergency situation.

By following this training participants should be able to be in charge of the survival craft or rescue boat during and after launching. Besides this the delegates will learn how to deal with the crew members and the rescue boat and provide first aid after abandoning the ship.

SCOPE

This training is intended for seafarers who are required to take charge of a survival craft or a rescue boat in emergency situations during and after launch, in accordance with:

SOLAS Chapter III (as amended) Regulation VI/2 of the Annex to the STCW Convention and Section A-VI/2-1 of the STCW Code

AIMS

This course aims to provide the training for candidates to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situations, in accordance with the STCW Code. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in survival crafts and rescue boats, other than fast rescue boats, a delegate will be competent to handle and take charge on such boats during or after launch.

Entry Requirements

For the issue of a certificate, candidates must:

- Be in the possession of a valid medical certificate and have the minimum age of 18

- Trainees must have received approved training on Personal Survival Techniques or Basic Sea Survival;

- Meet the standard of competence in Section AVI/2-1 of the STCW Code; and

- Successfully complete approved training as described in this document and have approved sea-going service of not less than 6 months
