Course Aim:

To transfer the required knowledge, competence and skills to the course participants’, as stated in the STCW Convention. On successful completion of the course & oral examination, candidates will be able to work worldwide as a Deck Officer on yachts less than 3000GT, holding a Transport Malta Flag Authority issued Certificate of Competence.

Participant can also opt to sit for the Oral Examination of the MOY

Tuition on all modules will be completed 13 weeks.

Oral Exam Preparation - various sessions will be organised in class with Master Mariners and Pilots to best prepare you for this Oral Exam!

STCW Ancillary Certificates Courses as required, can be completed at MaritimeMT as part of the course.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to attend this course, students must fulfil the following requirements:

Be at least 18 years of age
Hold a valid seafarers medical fitness certificate (IMO/ILO)
Hold a valid STCW Basic Safety Training Certificate
Hold a valid TM Master of Yachts 200 GT certificate or equivalent endorsed by Transport Malta
Hold a GMDSS GOC
Have been engaged in bridge watchkeeping duties for at least 6 months
Sea Time Requirements:

Either:

12 months seatime whilst holding a TM Training Record Book

OR

36 months seatime (Not holding Training Record Book)

All seatime must be obtained on vessels of 15 metres, 80GT or more.
