What is the Day Skipper theory course?
The Day Skipper Theory course is an integral part of the overall cruising scheme. It is an essential building block of knowledge for those wishing to progress to the Day Skipper practical course.
A comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers. This course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night cruising.
Course content
Nautical terms, ropework, anchorwork, safety, int regulations for preventing collisions at sea, definition of position course & speed, navigation charts & publications, navigation drawing instruments, compass, chartwork, position fixing, tides & tidal streams, visual aids to navigation, passage planning, navigation in restricted visibility, meterology, pilotage & electronic aids to navigation.
