Yacht Deckhand - Deckhand Course
Our 2 Day deckhand course is a great introduction to working as a deckhand on a yacht. It is designed for those interested in seeking a position on yachts (private or charter) as a Deckhand. You will learn entry level skills with our highly qualified. The course will include a basic overall introduction to working on yachts such as day to day expectations, tips on writing your CV, general terminology, a broad understanding of how a yacht operates.
You will learn:
- Basic Navigation
- Basic Watchkeeping
- Seamanship
- Deck work
- Emergencies and communications
With this course we highly recommend you take the STCW Basic Training (2-day blended course) to complete your full Qualification for a deckhand position.
Why take this course?
For a small investment, you will have a basic understanding of deck operations and perhaps discover if you have a passion for this type of work. The course was developed in partnership with Superyacht Captains, choosing subjects most important to them for new deckhands
What does the Deckhand course teach?
You will learn seamanship, knot tying, mooring/anchoring operations, basic principles of navigation, watchkeeping, chartwork, radar work, deck safety, emergency operations and communication.
