The 10 day Superyacht Essential Training Program is conducted at Galileo Maritime Academy. Located in a purpose built campus at the largest superyacht marina in S.E. Asia, Galileo Maritime Academy has been training Superyacht crew and other professional seafarers since 2014.

This program is designed to provide graduates with the qualifications needed to begin on a specific career path as a Deckhand, Steward/Stewardess or Engineer on Superyachts.

The inclusion of a specialist Deckhand, Interior Skills, or MCA Approved Engine Course better prepares you for the job you want and shows prospective employers your commitment to training.

U.K. MCA Approved STCW Courses are an acceptance of maritime training quality and certification worldwide. Galileo Maritime Academy is the only MCA accredited facility in the Asia Pacific region approved to provide Certificates of Proficiency for 20 STCW courses.

This Superyacht Essential Training Program includes a 15% Discount applied to the total cost of courses if booked seperately.

Course Options

The course comprises of a mandatory 5 day U.K. MCA Approved Basic safety and security STCW 2010 module. The final 5 day module is selected to specialise as either;

• Steward / Stewardess (focus on superyacht interior)
• Deckhand (focus on superyacht exterior)
• Engineer (focus on superyacht engine room)

Qualifications upon completion of course

• Superyacht interior, or Deckhand, certificate, or MCA Approved Engine Certificate (AEC1)
• Proficiency in Powerboat, Tender and Ribmaster certificate
• Food & Hygiene Level 2 certificate 
• U.K. MCA Basic Safety Training, including: -
• MCA proficiency in Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
• MCA proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques
• MCA proficiency in Elementary First Aid
• MCA proficiency in Personal Safety & Social Responsibility
• MCA proficiency in Security Awareness

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have a valid ENG 1, or an equivalent.
Note. ENG 1 is not available in Thailand. We are able to provide details of where to obtain a Norwegian Seafarers Medical in Bangkok, which is an acceptable equivalent.
